Beijing, abbreviated as "Beijing", formerly known as Yanjing and Peiping, is the capital, municipality directly under the central government, National Central City and megacity of the people's Republic of China. It is China's political center, cultural center, international exchange center and scientific and technological innovation center approved by the State Council. Beijing is one of the first national famous historical and cultural cities and the city with the largest number of world cultural heritages in the world.
