The course is taught by Professor Liang Xia, the head of the Chinese language program at Washington University in St Louis. Prof. Liang introduces the general situation of Chinese language teaching in American universities from three aspects including its historical review, development status and challenges. She also raises a series of problems to be solved urgently in international Chinese education as well as its relevant solutions. Combined with the current situation of the COVID-19 Epidemic, Chinese language teaching in American colleges is served as an example to analyze the challenges brought by online teaching and its corresponding strategies.
