This course summarizes the difficulties that students may encounter during the process of learning Chinese characters in teaching Chinese as a foreign language, and raises questions such as whether teachers should separate speech and writing in the course, how to teach by making use of the systematization of Chinese characters and how to keep the students' interest in learning. Through the analysis of her own teaching design of Chinese characters, Prof. YANG Ning shows the essential factors of Chinese characters module in teaching Chinese as a foreign language, which provides a good teaching demonstration and guidance for international Chinese teachers.
