1Hangzhou is endeavoring to put the Beautiful China initiative into practice, as it strives to be worthy of the reputation of “Paradise on Earth”. Known as the “Land of Fish and Rice”, the “Capital of Silk” and the “Home to Cultural Relics”, Hangzhou exemplifies the long-term, uninterrupted pattern of cultural evolution. Religions, operas, silk, customs, tea, food and other cultural forms are well blended in Hangzhou. The Lingyin Temple is quiet and dignified. The Xiling Seal Engraver’s Society is highly prestigious. The Grand Theatre is towering and shining. The Huqing Yutang Chinese Medicine Museum, the Silk Museum and the Tea Museum attract a huge number of travelers. Traditional Hangzhou snacks and cuisine are enticing as ever. Rich cultural connotations are intertwined with people’s daily life.
