1This lecture takes Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao Greater Bay Area as the theme, and introduces it from the aspects of background information, basic positioning, urban construction and development path. Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao Bay Area refers to the urban agglomeration formed by nine cities in Guangdong and two special administrative regions of Hong Kong and Macao. It is the fourth largest Bay Area in the world after New York Bay area, San Francisco Bay area and Tokyo Bay Area in Japan. Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao Bay area is one of the regions with the highest degree of openness and the strongest economic vitality in China. Its basic characteristics include: obvious location advantage, strong economic strength, aggregation of innovative elements, leading international level and good cooperation foundation. The bay area of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao has an important strategic position in the overall development of the country. The outline of the development plan for the bay area of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao issued by the state in 2019 further defines the development path of the bay area, with the goal of building a first-class Bay area and a world-class urban agglomeration with vitality and international competitiveness.
