This course introduces the traditional customs, legends and folk stories of Winter Solstice, one of the 24 solar terms in China, and helps students to understand the expressions such as “Sanjiu (Three Nine)” and “Shujiuhantian (the coldest days of the year)” through learning “Counting Nine Ballad” (Nine means the nine periods (of nine days each) following the winter solstice). Meanwhile how to wrap dumplings and the useful tools to make dumplings are explained to students.
