1Wuqinxi (Five-animal Exercises), as one of the courses of “Chinese on the Cloud” Online Cultural Activities Program of Xinjiang University of Finance and Economics, lasts for about one hour. It is one technique of health Qigong exercises, inherited and designed by famous doctor Huatuo in eastern Han dynasty, the whole exercises are based on bionics and Chinese medicine, modeling the movement of such five animals as tigers, deers, bears, apes and birds. The motions emulate tigers’ ferocity, deer’s easiness, bears’ stability, apes’ flexibility, and birds’ lightness. Wuqinxi is suitable for different genders and all ages. Long term exercises would improve cardiovascular function, respiratory function, joint flexibility, and improve mental health as well. This course is composed of basic motions, detailed motions and full demonstration of Wuqinxi.
