1This course mainly introduces the basics of Chinese Character and Calligraphy. To help students understand the Chinese Character and its history. Also, to understand and experience Calligraphy culture. The content includes the origin of Chinese characters, the evolution of its fonts, and calligraphy materials. First, we'll introduce the origin of Chinese characters. Chinese characters are the oldest and the only written language in the world that is in use until now. The ancestors of the Han people created them from long-term social practice. Then we'll display fonts such as; Ox bone, Bronze, Small seal, Clerical, Regular, Cursive, Running, and other types of inscriptions through pictures. To help students get a preliminary understanding of Chinese characters' history and their fonts' evolution, we'll also introduce the fonts' characteristics. The third part of the course introduces the tools of calligraphy-brush, ink, paper, and inkstone. We'll introduce calligraphy tools through the use of pictures. Then describe the brush structure, the preparation and use of the ink, the art of papermaking, and so on. We'll display the creation process of the tools through videos. And finally, we'll experience the creative process and beauty of calligraphy through creative videos.
