Calling for Entries on Spring Festival of 2022 Chinese Bridge Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreigners across the Globe—Calligraphy and Painting Challenge

一、      征集何时开始？

“春节”书画作品征集起止时间：2022年6月20日——2023年1月10日中午12:00（北京时间）

*拒收逾期投稿作品。

I.      When can I submit?

 

Spring Festival Theme: From June 20 to 12:00 pm of Jan 10 (Beijing Time), 2023.

 

Overdue submissions will be rejected.

 

二、      谁可以参加？

书画展面向全球热爱中文爱好者，年龄不限，投稿人须母语非中文、非中国国籍。未成年投稿必须取得监护人同意。投稿一律使用真实姓名，化名重复投稿者不予评审。

 

II.     Who can submit?

 

All Chinese language enthusiasts from around the world. No age limitation. The submitter must be a non-Chinese speaker, with a non-Chinese nationality. Underage submitters must obtain consent from their guardians. Submitters must use their real names. Participants who use false names to make repeat submissions will be disqualified.

 

三、作品有什么要求？

（一）书法作品

本次书画展中书法作品接收毛笔书法作品，书体不限。

提倡投稿作者围绕“春节”主题自撰书写内容，文白均可，内容要追求真善美，传递正能量。可以书写对联、福字、新春祝福语，亦可书写健康向上的古今诗词,诗词书写时应注意使用权威版本，保证内容的准确连贯和相对完整，应在落款处写上原作者姓名及篇名。

投稿人应当遵守相关法律法规，确保书写内容不存在著作权、名誉权等争议和纠纷。因书写内容或形式等而产生的任何纠纷，均应由投稿人本人负责。

 

III.   What we're looking for

 

1.     Calligraphy

 

We accept soft pen calligraphy works. Writing styles are not limited.

 

We would like participants to write something related to Spring Festival in traditional or simplified Chinese. You can write couplets, the Chinese character "fu" (meaning happiness or luck), Chinese New Year greetings, or ancient or modern poems so long as you use authoritative versions. 

 

The content should be positive and express values like truth, goodness and beauty. Please ensure the accuracy, coherence and completeness of your content. If quoting, please credit the original author and note the name of the article.

 

Participants should obey laws and regulations to ensure no copyright or reputation rights issues are infringed in your written content. Any issues arising from the content or form shall be the sole responsibility of the participant.

 

（二）绘画作品

本次书画展中绘画作品表现形式不限，中国画、油画、水彩画、水粉画、素描、丙烯画、版画、漫画、电脑画等均可。

提倡投稿作者围绕 “春节”主题创作原创绘画，内容要有节日气氛，追求真善美，传递正能量。

 

投稿人应当遵守相关法律法规，确保绘画内容不存在著作权、名誉权等争议和纠纷。因绘画内容或形式等而产生的任何纠纷，均应由投稿人本人负责。

 

2.     Painting

 

No restrictions on painting forms: Chinese paintings, oil paintings, watercolors, gouaches, sketches, acrylic paintings, prints, comics, computer paintings or others.

 

We recommend original paintings pertaining to "Spring Festival". The content should be festive and positive, and express values like truth, goodness and beauty.

 

Submitters should obey laws and regulations to ensure no copyright and reputation right issues are infringed in your painting. Any problems arising from your painting shall be the sole responsibility of the author.

 

（三）书画vlog

选手完成书画作品后，拍摄视频讲述书画作品创作意图、文字含义、背后故事等内容。

视频时长：不长于5分钟

视频格式：mp4、mov等主流制式

视频分辨率：1920*1080及以上

选手将书法作品/绘画作品和书画vlog一同提交，视为成功投稿；提交作品不完整者，视为无效投稿。

 

3.     Calligraphy and painting vlogs

 

Participants can shoot video to show the intention or meaning of texts, and share stories of his or her painting and calligraphy works.

 

Length of video: less than 5 minutes

Video format: mainstream formats such as mp4, mov

Video resolution: 1920*1080 or above

 

Your submission will only be valid if it's submitted with your calligraphy or painting works.

六、作品如何评选？

1.本次书画展将由组委会制定评审细则、评审工作流程和评委、监委守则，明确违规的处理办法，阳光公正评审。

评审中，加强对书写内容、文字正误的审查。在书法水平相当的情况下，与本展主题相关内容的作品优先入展或获奖。绘画作品根据色彩、结构、意向、创意等进行审核。

评审专家评选出书法组、绘画组的最佳技法奖、最佳呈现奖、最具创意奖、最具潜力奖。

2、网络人气奖

在“汉语桥”书画展专题页中点赞最高五名获得网络人气奖。

3、自媒体人气奖

投稿人在Facebook、Instagram、微博用个人账号发布书画作品，每个平台选取点赞数最高的单条帖子计入点赞总数。

点赞总数=Facebook单条最高点赞数+Instagram单条最高点赞数+微博单条最高点赞数

书法组、绘画组在以上三个平台点赞总数累计相加最高的前五名，获得自媒体人气奖。

自媒体人气奖有效投稿格式：

Facebook平台：投稿人将自己的作品发布在个人社交账号上，带活动话题#ChineseBridgeCalligraphyPaintingChallenge ，关注并@chinesebridge2002 （Chinese Bridge公共主页）和@chinacultureorg （China Culture公共主页）。

Instagram平台：投稿人将自己的作品发布在个人社交账号上，带活动话题#ChineseBridgeCalligraphyPaintingChallenge ，关注并@chinesebridge2002 （汉语桥Chinese Bridge）和@china_culture （China Culture）。

微博平台：投稿人将自己的作品发布在个人社交账号上，带活动话题#汉语桥书画展# ，关注并@汉语桥 和@中国日报网。

4.“春节”主题作品评审工作于2023年春节假期后进行。由主办方核对原作准确无误后，及时公布评审结果。

5.投稿作品必须由本人独立完成，请勿一稿多投。违规者取消资格。所有投稿作品一律不办理换稿、退稿等事宜。

6.凡参加活动者均可获得“汉语桥”颁发的荣誉证书。

7.电子证书、奖品将在获奖名单公布之日起90个工作日内向获奖者发送和邮寄。

8. 为鼓励更多中文爱好者参与书画创作，中秋主题获奖者不参与春节奖项评选。

 

VI.            How will works be judged?

 

1. The organizing committee for the challenge will formulate evaluation rules, the review process and regulations for the judges and the supervisor committee. They will ensure transparency and fairness.

 

The judges will examine what's written and the correctness of the texts. For calligraphy works at comparable levels, those which are most relevant to the two categories are preferred. Paintings will be reviewed based on color, structure, intention, creativity, and other metrics.

 

The organizing committee for the challenge will invite experts to judge the shortlisted entries and pick up the winners of the Best Skill Awards, Best Presentation Awards, Most Creative Awards, and Most Potential Awards, for both calligraphy and painting groups.

 

2. Online Popularity Awards

 

The five works with the most likes on the event page of the "Chinese Bridge" Calligraphy and Painting Challenge will win the Online Popularity Awards.

 

3. Social Media Popularity Awards

 

The submitters can post their work on their personal accounts on such platforms as  Facebook, Instagram and WeiBo.

 

The total number of the likes for an entry will be determined by the single posts with the most likes on Facebook, Instagram and WeiBo.

 

The five works with the most likes from all three platforms for both calligraphy and painting groups will win the Social Media Popularity awards.

 

Valid submission formats for Social Media Popularity awards:

 

Facebook: Post your work on your personal account with the hashtag #ChineseBridgeCalligraphyPaintingChallenge. Follow and tag @chinesebridge2002 (The official page of Chinese Bridge) and @chinacultureorg (China Culture).

 

Instagram: Post your work on your personal account with the hashtag #ChineseBridgeCalligraphyPaintingChallenge. Follow and tag @chinesebridge2002 and @china_culture.

 

Weibo: Post your work on your personal account with the hashtag #汉语桥书画展#. Follow and tag @汉语桥, @中国日报网.

 

4. The review work for the "Spring Festival" work will begin after the Spring Festival holiday in early 2023.

 

5. All submissions must be completed independently. Please don't submit the same work repeatedly, or your submission will be disqualified. Submitted works will not be replaced or returned.

 

6. All participants will receive certificates of honor issued by "Chinese Bridge".

 

7. Digital certificates and prizes will be sent or mailed to winners within 90 working days after the list of winners is announced.

 

8. To encourage more participation in calligraphy and painting from Chinese lovers, winners of the Mid-Autumn themed competition will be excluded from the Spring Festival themed competition.

中文零基础外国友人当然可以参加！活动专题页选编微课“书法小课堂”，跟着学，你能行！

HSK考试的考生也可以在活动专题页找到学习宝藏！这里有《HSK基础汉字书法与文化创意教程》，内容均选自中国历代经典名言，配有汉字演变和篆隶真草等各种书体的图例，并标定HSK考试级别，由“书法小联合国”主席、中国上海交通大学书法教授周斌担纲主讲。

同时，“汉语桥”线上团组精编优秀书画课程，中文爱好者可以注册登录“汉语桥”线上团组免费学习，陶冶情操，深度体验书画之美。

 

VII.          Can beginners participate?

 

Of course! Start our online mini-course for beginners on the event page. Follow the instructions and you will be ready to join in!

 

Candidates for the HSK (Chinese Proficiency Test) examination can also find learning materials on our page, including "A Creative Course in Calligraphy for HSK Basic Chinese Characters". It pairs classic quotes from ancient China with illustrations of various calligraphic styles, designated with their levels in the HSK examination. Zhou Bin, a calligraphy professor with Shanghai Jiao Tong University, gives the lectures.  

 

The "Chinese Bridge" online group will offer courses featuring calligraphy and painting works. You are welcome to sign into this online group and learn for free.

八、投递作品就能参加公益图书捐赠？

你知道吗？每收到100份书画展作品，就会捐赠出50册书籍！

“汉语桥”与人教社共同选取图书捐赠给尼泊尔的儿童中心或中小学，希望以此能丰富尼泊尔青少年的课余生活。

For every 100 calligraphy and painting works we receive, we will donate 50 books.

 

"Chinese Bridge" and the People's Education Press will select books to donate to children's centers or primary and secondary schools in Nepal to enrich Nepalese teenagers' after-school lives.
