Communication University of Zhejiang is a high level media university with distinctive industry characteristics, jointly built by the People's Government of Zhejiang Province and the National Radio and Television Administration. The university was established in 1978, with two campuses in Qiantang and Wuzhen. The University is made up of 11 schools and 3 teaching departments, 1 College of Continuing Education (Training Center) and 1 entrepreneurship College (Employment Guidance Center). At present, CUZ has about about 14000 full-time enrolled students. CUZ, with distinctive characteristics, is a hub for training media and arts talents. Many alumni have become prominent media professionals and industrial leaders.
CUZ - COMMUNICATION UNIVERSITY OF ZHEJIANG is an internationally renowned, highly professional Chinese institution of higher education in China in the field of media and broadcast industries. The University was founded in 1978 when China first began her epoch marking opening and reforms.
CUZ consists of 16 self-governing schools, colleges, institutions and other functional departments at its two campuses in Hangzhou Qiantang and Wuzhen Tongxiang: The School of Broadcast Announcing and Presenting Arts, The School of TV Arts, The School of Animation, The School of International Communications & Education, The School of Huace Film Academy, The School of Media Engineering, The School of Art Design, The School of Cultural Creativity & Management, The School of Literature, School of Journalism and Communications, The School of Music, The College of Marxism, The Department of College Physical Education, The Department of Public Art Education, The School of Further Education, and the School of Entrepreneurship. Currently there are more than 14500 full-time enrolled undergraduate students and postgraduate students studying at the University. About 1400 teaching staff, including 147 professors, 282 associate professors and more than 30 foreign experts and teachers are currently employed to serve the University.
The University has 2 national-level teaching platforms, 11 provincial-level teaching platforms and 4 provincial-level teaching teams. In the past five years, it has won 9 provincial teaching achievement awards, undertaken 42 provincial education and teaching reform projects, published 4 national planning textbooks and 41 provincial textbooks, and conducted over 9 provincial quality online courses. It has built more than 400 production, teaching and research practice teaching bases, including one national off-campus practice education base for college students, seven provincial off-campus practice education bases for college students and five overseas practice bases.
The University has 8 national science and technology innovation platforms and 8 provincial science and technology innovation platforms. More than 90 national level scientific research projects have been approved successively by the government, including 8 major projects. It has won nearly 110 awards for national outstanding teacher, national micro-class competitions, provincial outstanding teacher, provincial teaching skills competitions and other honors.More than 50 staff are high-end talents in the industry and have created or taken part in a large group of influential film and television works.
CUZ has its working partners in the USA, UK, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and other areas and countries. So far, over 110 universities and institutions of higher education have established cooperation with CUZ in student and teacher exchange projects. Every year about 300 CUZ exchange students are sent to our partners schools including Columbia University, The London School of Economics and Political Science, UCLA, The University of New South Wales Australia. There are 245 international students studying in the University at the moment. In 2015, the bachelor degrees project in Fashion and Accessories Design with Coventry University officially began enrollment. In 2017, the first provincial international and key construction program Broadcasting and Art (Bilingual), recruited the first batch of international students. In September 2017, the CUZ-Bolton jointly-ventured Master Degree Project in Visual Media had its first cohort of students. And 2019, CUZ and State University of New York at Stony Brook jointly carried out the "Technological Systems Management focusing on Global Technology Management (big data direction) Dual Master Training Project”. In 2021, the bachelor degrees joint program between CUZ and Victoria University of Wellington had the first enrollment.
With strong teaching and research teams, first class facilities and a student friendly atmosphere CUZ has won good reputation in the industries for its outstanding quality and an employment rate of over 95 percent. Many alumni have become prominent media and broadcast professionals and industrial leaders.
The University is well-equipped with advanced teaching and experimental facilities that guarantee its students a professional efficient, and people-friendly learning environment. The total value of educational instruments and facilities has reached 375 million RMB. The school was approved the right to set the media research laboratory by the National Radio & Television Administration. At a national and provincial level, the first 5G+4K electronic sports complex studio in China, 11 experimental teaching model centers, are set up and in use. The Library of the University, with a collection of more than 1.79 million books and publications on various subjects, 1.7 million e-books and about 97101 hours of audio-visual items, has become a regional resource centre for radio and television study and research.
With the strong support of the Center for Language Exchange and Cooperation and other major platforms, since 2020, our project team has successfully held two sessions of the “Chinese Bridge——Colorful Culture” online experience camp project in Communication University of Zhejiang(CUZ). Successively it provided various Chinese cultural courses for nearly 500 Chinese language lovers, also formed a good way for communication and interaction. Nearly 200 Chinese and foreign media reported news about the camps. Besides, the project leader presided over the 2021 “Chinese Bridge” 5 high-quality recorded and broadcast courses in minority foreign languages translation projects (French, German, Spanish, Arabic and Russian)

Summer Camp of China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese
In addition, with the full support of the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese and Zhejiang Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, in the past three years, we have successfully hosted the 2019 “Summer Camp for China Roots Trip” of CUZ and “Touching China, Telling Stories for You” the Online Summer Camp in 2020 and 2021, which offered various language courses to more than 2,700 Chinese teenagers from all over the world, introducing the magnificent rivers and mountains in China, and spreading traditional Chinese cultures. The camps aroused the enthusiasm of more and more overseas Chinese around the world to participate in the “Roots-seeking Journey” activity, which enhanced the overseas Chinese youth’s awareness of our national conditions, and the sense of identity to Chinese culture and Chinese nation. In 2019, the project won the title of “Most Influential Work” by the Zhejiang Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese. In 2020, the North American Youth Federation sent a warm thank-you letter to our university. Meanwhile, the 2021 “Chinese Bridge——Colorful Culture” at CUZ experience camp project won the title of “Most Influential Work” which was awarded by the Zhejiang Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese in 2021.
Communication University of Zhejiang is a high-level media university with distinctive characteristics. It has 13 national-level first-class professional construction programs , including the majors : Film and Television Photography and Production, Broadcasting and Hosting art, Radio and Television Engineering, Network Engineering, Drama, Film and Television Literature. It also has the mature education curriculum system in TV Program production, short video creation and broadcast hosting and other related courses. At the same time, the university began to recruit international students in 2007, and has trained more than 600 language students, long-term and short-term exchange students and academic students. The language teaching curriculum system in CUZ is mature and complete now.
The International Communication Center of Communication University of Zhejiang(CUZ) is a comprehensive hotel invested by CUZ. The hotel, which is a comprehensive building built according to high-class standards, has 11 floors and a total construction area of 12000 square meters. Located in Qiantang District of Hangzhou, it is in the living area of CUZ and adjacent to the Desheng Expressway with excellent location and convenient transportation. The building is well-equipped, elegantly and stylishly decorated, with various double rooms, family rooms, deluxe rooms and suites of high-grade design, equipped with central air-conditioning, flat-screen LCD TV, broadband Internet access, international and domestic direct dialing telephone, luxury shower facilities and others. There are three small meeting rooms with a seating capacity of 20 people, two large meeting rooms with a seating capacity of 100 people, a multi-function room with a seating capacity of 125 people and a restaurant with a seating capacity of over 300 people. To meet the multi-level needs of guests, there are also supporting services such as a coffee bar.
