Approved by the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China in March 1999, Taiyuan Normal University (TYNU) was formed by the merger of Normal College of Shanxi University, Taiyuan Normal College and Shanxi Academy of Education. It is a full-time higher normal University with undergraduate normal education as the main body and coordinated development of non-normal education and postgraduate education.

太原师范学院于1999年3月经国家教育部批准，由原山西大学师范学院、太原师范专科学校和山西省教育学院合并组建而成，是一所以本科师范教育为主、非师范教育和研究生教育协调发展的全日制高等师范院校。

TYNU offers undergraduate majors covering 9 disciplines of Economics, Law, Education, Literature, History, Science, Engineering, Management and Art. TYNU has 6 first-grade discipline master programs---Chinese Language and Literature, Chinese History, Mathematics, Geography, Biology and Art Theory, and nine professional degree authorization programs--- Education, Art, Electronic Information,Tourism Management, Insurance, Physical Education, Materials and Chemical Engineering, Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages (TCSOL) and Cultural Heritage and Museology (CHM).

本科专业涉及经济学、法学、教育学、文学、历史学、理学、工学、管理学、艺术学等九大学科门类，现有中国语言文学、中国史、数学、地理学、生物学、艺术学理论6个一级学科硕士点，教育、艺术、电子信息、旅游管理、保险、体育、材料与化工、汉语国际教育和文物与博物馆9个专业学位授权点。

At present, the library of TYNU has a collection of 1.57 million printed books in Chinese and foreign languages (including back issues), 11.5 million electronic books, 1194 kinds of Chinese and foreign newspapers and 139 databases in Chinese and foreign languages. The collection resources cover many fields such as social sciences and natural sciences.

目前图书馆馆藏中外文纸质图书（包括过刊）达157万册、电子图书1150万册，中外文报刊1194种，中外文数据库139个，馆藏资源涵盖了社会科学、自然科学等多个领域。

TYNU at present has established friendly cooperative relations with 32 universities at in 15 countries around the world and has signed cooperative agreements with such universities as The State University of New York at Albany in the US, Aston University in the UK, Brandon University in Canada, University of Magdeburg in Germany and University of Adelaide in Australia. TYNU has also sent students for exchange and study for several consecutive years to the universities like State University of New York at Albany in America, Florence National Academy of Fine Arts in Italy, Selkirk College in Canada. TYNU also invites famous experts and scholars to give lectures, and also sends excellent teachers to famous domestic and international universities and institutions for study and academic exchanges.

太原师范学院目前与全球15个国家的32所高校建立友好合作关系，与美国纽约州立大学奥尔巴尼分校、英国阿斯顿大学、加拿大布兰登大学、德国马格德堡大学、澳大利亚阿德莱德大学等高校签署了合作协议。陆续派学生分赴纽约州立大学奥尔巴尼分校、意大利佛罗伦萨国立美术学院、加拿大希尔克学院等大学交流学习。学校聘请国内外知名专家、学者上百人次来校讲学，并选派优秀教师80余人次到国内外知名学府、科研院所访问学习或开展学术交流。

International Students Education留学生教育

In 2019, TYNU began to recruit international students, mainly Chinese language students. The one-time pass rate of their National Chinese Test---HSK4 is 100%. 78% graduates are enrolled in bachelor’s or master’s programs at prestigious Chinese universities.

2019年我校开始招收留学生，主要进行汉语语言培训。第一批留学生参加国家汉语四级考试HSK4一次性通过率100%。78%的毕业生被中国知名大学录取，攻读学士或硕士学位。

“Chinese Bridge” Online Summer Camp “汉语桥”线上夏令营

In 2021, TYNU was approved for the first time to carry out the "Chinese Bridge" online group exchange program. The program combines Chinese language learning and Chinese culture, and has attracted more than 180 foreign youths from more than 10 countries, such as Russia, Korea, Vietnam and Morocco, to register for the program, and has been well received by the participants.

2021年，我校首次申报“汉语桥”线上团组交流项目并获批。项目将汉语学习与中国文化相结合，吸引了来自俄罗斯、韩国、越南、摩洛哥等10多个国家180余名外国青年注册学习并受到学员的好评。

Faculty Resources师资力量

Since 2007, TYNU has been involved in the selection and dispatch of government-sponsored Chinese language teachers to the United States, Bangladesh and other countries to engage in international Chinese language education. Since 2016, TYNU has been involved in the selection and dispatch of Confucius Institute Chinese teacher volunteers to Thailand, Cambodia and other countries to engage in international Chinese language education. In 2021, TYNU was awarded the master's degree authorization center in Chinese Language International Education and was granted the qualification for enrolling students from 2022, which enhances the level of TYNU Chinese language international education and helps to improve TYNU Chinese language international education service capability.

学校从2007年起开始参与选拔派出国家公派汉语教师，分赴美国、孟加拉国等国家从事国际中文教育，2016年起开始参与选拔派出孔子学院汉语教师志愿者，分赴泰国、柬埔寨等过从事国际中文教育。2021年，我校成功获批汉语国际教育硕士专业学位授权点并于2022年开始招生，提升了我校中文国际教育层次，并有利于提高我校中文国际教育服务能力。

TYNU not only has excellent and professional teachers majoring in international Chinese language education, but also has established a database of Chinese language teachers majoring in Chinese language, other foreign languages and other related fields. All of the teachers have rich practical experiences in cross-cultural communication.

我校不仅有科班出身的优秀国际汉语教学专业教师，同时还建立了留学生汉语语言教师师资库，入库教师来自中文、外语等相关专业且具有丰富的跨文化交流实践经验。

The university has 4 campuses and covers 1,884 mu (1.26 million square meters). The new campus covers 1,569 mu (1.05 million square meters), including 550,000 square meters of all kinds of buildings.

太原师范学院现有4个校区，总占地面积约1884亩，其中新校区占地面积1569亩，建筑面积约55万平方米。

There are two dining halls on campus, Qichen Dining Hall and Juhua Dining Hall. Qichen Dining Hall, located in the east campus, has three floors. The first and second floors provide various food to meet the needs of students; the third storey, mainly serving the staff and also providing buffet for students with a variety of food and favorable price, is quite popular with both the staff and the students. Juhua Dining Hall, located in the west campus, has two floors. It also provides many kinds of food.

校园里有两个食堂，分别位于学校的东区和西区。位于东区的启辰餐厅，共分为三层，一、二层供学生就餐，窗口菜品种类丰富能充分满足学生需求；三层为教工食堂，并向学生提供自助餐，种类繁多价格优惠，深受老师和学生的喜爱。聚华餐厅位于学校西区，共两层，餐厅菜品丰富且紧临地下超市，能充分满足学生需求。

There are 28 Student Dormitory Buildings, distributed in the east campus and west campus. Dormitories for international students are twin rooms in Building 13 and Building 14, located in the northwest corner of the campus. There are also public kitchens and supporting facilities in these building, which can meet the requirement of foreign students.

学生公寓分布在学校的东区和西区，共28幢楼。留学生宿舍位于学校西北角的高层13号和14号楼。双人间。学校为留学生提供公共厨房及配套设施,可以满足外国学生的需求。 

The Air Film Gymnasium, located in the southwest corner of the campus. It includes a comprehensive hall and a swimming pool with a total area of 81195.8 square meters. There is a gym and students can also play basketball, badminton and table tennis in the comprehensive hall. The average temperature of the swimming pool is about 26℃ all year around. It is the venue for the second National Youth Games Water Polo Competition and an ideal place for swimming lovers.

校园的西南角有气膜体育馆，包括一个综合大厅和一个游泳池，总面积81195.8平方米。 综合大厅有健身房、篮球场、羽毛球场和乒乓球设施。游泳池场馆内采用专业无炫光照明系统，无阴影无死角，场内开阔舒适，全年平均气温可以保持在26℃，第二届全国青年运动会水球比赛曾在此举办，是游泳爱好者的理想之所。
