吉林农业大学国际教育交流学院成立于2007年。建院之初，国际教育交流学院与学校国际合作与交流处合署办公。2011年，开始招收吉林省政府奖学金留学生，2013年，成为中国政府奖学金资格校。2017年，国际教育交流学院开始独立办公。学院作为学校来华留学生的归口管理部门，具体负责全校来华留学生的招生、教育教学工作的协助管理及对外汉语教学、留学生日常管理及援外培训项目的组织实施等工作。

学院现有管理人员11人。其中，院长、副院长各1人，留学生工作办公室主任兼留学生辅导员1人，留学生工作办公室副主任兼留学生专职辅导员1人，留学生辅导员1人，汉语教师兼留管干部6人。管理人员中具有博士研究生学历2人，硕士研究生学历9人；教授2人，副教授2人，讲师3人，助教4人。学院下设留学生工作办公室、招生工作部、教学事务部、学生工作部、援外培训部和对外汉语教研室6个部门。

学校自1991年开始招收来华留学生以来，特别是自2014年接收中国政府奖学金资助留学生以来，学校来华留学生数量快速增长，人才培养质量显著提升。2018年，学校在校留学生达315人，生源国别拓展至53个国家，分布在学校12个学院56个学科专业，已经形成了以高层次学历教育为主体，非学历教育为补充，援外培训为亮点，农业领域专业技术教育与中国文化体验相结合，培养知华友华国际高端农业科技人才的来华留学教育新格局。

学院紧紧围绕国家教育对外开放、“一带一路”倡议及“南南合作”等历史机遇，坚持以国际化人才培养为核心，以“扩大规模、优化结构、强化管理、提质增效”为目标，全力打造“留学吉农”教育品牌，有效地促进了学校国际化办学水平的进一步提升，在培养全球人才、涵养国际人脉、讲好中国故事、深化人文交流等方面发挥了重要作用。

The School of International Education and Exchange of Jilin Agricultural University was founded in 2007. At its inception, the School of International Education and Exchange worked collaboratively with the International Cooperation and Exchange Office. In 2011, the school began to enroll Jilin Provincial Government Scholarship students, and in 2013, the school was authorized to receive students under the Chinese Government Scholarship. In 2017, the school of International Education and Exchange began to operate independently. Being the overall management department for international students, the school is responsible for enrollment of international students, provides assistance in management of education and teaching, teaches Chinese as a foreign language, offers daily management of international students and is also tasked with foreign aid training programs.

The school comprises of 10 administrators, including 1 dean and 1 vice dean, 1 office administrator who also serves as tutor, 1 deputy office administrator who is also tasked as being a full-time tutor for international students, 1 tutor for international students and 6 Chinese language teachers with added roles in the management of international students. Among the management personnel, 2 have Doctoral degrees while 9 have Master’s degrees. In addition, there are 2 professors, 2 associate professors, 3 lecturers and 4 teaching assistants. The school consists of six departments: The International Student Affairs Office, the Admission Office, the Teaching Affairs Office, the Student Affairs Office, the Foreign Aid Training Office and the Chinese Language Teaching and Research office.

Since 1991, the university has been recruiting international students and in 2014 the university began to enroll Chinese Government Scholarships students. Consequently, the number of international students has been increasing exponentially, with a rapid improvement in the quality of talent training. In 2018, there were 315 international students enrolled at JLAU from 45 countries, allotted to 56 disciplines across 12 schools. The university has formed a new international education pattern in cultivating high-end agricultural science and technology talents with high-level academic education as the main body, non-academic education as complements, and features foreign aid training, all while combining agricultural professional technical education coupled with the Chinese culture experience.

The university is primarily concerned with the historical opportunity of open education, the “Belt and Road” initiative and "south-south cooperation" and so on, while adhering to international talent training as the core, aimed at "expanding scale, optimizing the structure, strengthening management, improving quality and efficiency", building and expanding the education brand of “Study in JLAU”, which effectively incentivizes the university to further improve the level of education internationalization and plays an important role in cultivating global talents, establishing international contacts, telling the Chinese story as well as deepening cultural exchanges.
