The School of Chinese Studies of Xi’an International Studies University is devoted to the education of the Chinese language for international students and undergraduate and postgraduate education in the teaching of Chinese as a foreign language to Chinese students. In 1979, it began to recruit international students and offer courses in Chinese language and Chinese literature, culture, history and economics. It began to recruit international students for Chinese language undergraduate courses in 1998. Over four decades, more than 20 thousand international students from 45 countries including America, Britain, Japan, Korea, Germany, France, Italy, Russia, Spain, Belgium, Australia, Canada, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan have graduated.

西安外国语大学汉学院主要从事外国留学生汉语教育和中国学生对外汉语本科、研究生教学。1979年开始招收外国留学生，开设汉语和中国文学、文化、历史、经济等课程。1998年始，招收外国学生汉语言本科。40多年来，来自美、英、日、韩、德、法、意、俄、西、比、澳、加、哈萨克、吉尔吉斯等45个国家的20000余名留学生学成回国。

In 2004, the school began to offer undergraduate courses in the teaching of Chinese as a foreign language to Chinese students. Featured with bilingual teaching of Chinese and English, this major focuses on improving students’ related knowledge and comprehensive abilities. In 2006, it began to offer postgraduate education in the teaching of Chinese as a foreign language to Chinese students. And in 2010, it began to offer postgraduate education in the major of International Education of Chinese Language for Chinese and international students, focusing on cultivating students that can make contributions to intercultural communication and the teaching of Chinese as a foreign language.

2004年，汉学院开始招收中国学生对外汉语专业本科。该专业以汉、英双语教学为特色，注重学生专业知识和综合素质的培养与提高。2006年开始招收对外汉语方向硕士研究生，2010年招收“汉语国际教育”专业学位中外研究生。主要培养较高层次从事对外汉语教学和跨文化交流的复合型人才。

The School of Chinese Studies creates great opportunities for the exchange between Chinese students and international students, which not only shows the unique culture of the Chinese language but also promotes the integration of Chinese culture and foreign cultures and the communication of Chinese students and international students.

汉学院为中外学生互相学习与交流创造了很好的条件和机会，不仅展示了汉语言文化特色，而且凸显了融通中西文化，中外学生互相融合，相互补益的特点。

There are 31 teachers in the School of Chinese Studies, among which 90% of them are Doctors and Masters and ten of them are professors and associate professors. Besides, there are 13 part-time instructors who can give courses on Sinology and other subjects in foreign languages so that international students who are poor at Chinese can understand the contents.

汉学院现有教职工31名，90%以上具有博士、硕士学位。学院师资力量强，有教授、副教授10人，博士、硕士21人。此外，还有13位兼职教师，可向汉语水平较低的留学生用外语讲授有关中国问题研究等方面的课程。

The school holds many activities to exchange opinions on education with foreign universities and keeps good relations with nearly 80 universities and overseas education institutions in more than 30 countries.

Introduction to “Chinese Bridge” Delegation activities

The School of Chinese Studies has hosted “Chinese Bridge” Delegation activities for many years. In 2020, because of the pandemic, the school began to hold online activities based on the model of “Chinese language courses with specific themes, interesting activities and onsite visiting”. Except for learning Chinese, activities related to Tai Chi, Chinese Kongfu, Chinese classical dance, Chinese knot, paper-cutting and other traditional Chinese cultures and arts are held. Meanwhile, the school also organizes live streaming activities, for example, interviewing Chinese students’ families, visiting the Terracotta Warriors, Yangling Mausoleum of the Han Dynasty, Dayan Pagoda, Forest of Stone Steles Museum and other scenic spots and historical sites online, so that international students can learn Chinese when they are experiencing Chinese culture.

我院连续多年承办“汉语桥”系列团组，自2020年疫情以来，线上团组按照“主题汉语课+趣味活动+实地探访”的模式，语言学习之外还组织太极拳、武术、中国古典舞、中国结、剪纸等中国传统文化活动和中国传统艺术赏析，同时组织大型直播活动，比如采访中国学生家庭，云游兵马俑、汉阳陵、大雁塔、碑林等城市名胜古迹等，让国际学生在体验中学习汉语，了解中国文化。

Introduction to Chinese language courses

语言课程介绍

The short-term language courses have comprehensive courses and practice courses and are based on HSK Standard Course series textbooks or New Concept Chinese series textbooks. Students can arrange their courses according to their needs and schedules. All of them are offline/online immersed courses, so students can communicate and interact with the teachers in real-time during class. After class, teachers will check the homework and results of learning and give feedback to every student.

短期语言课程以《HSK标准教程》系列教材或《新概念汉语》系列教材作为教学材料，分为综合课和操练课。可根据学生具体学习需求和时间安排课程。所有课程为线下/线上浸入式课程，学生可以在上课过程中跟老师即时沟通、实时互动，课后老师会对每位学生的作业和学习情况进行跟踪反馈。

The School of Chinese Studies is located on the Yanta campus of the Xi’an International Studies University. It covers an area of 14532.4m² and enjoys a good location with convenient transportation and near the prosperous street. Famous scenic spots such as Datang Everbright City, Dayan Pagoda, Xiaoyan Pagoda and Shaanxi History Museum are also near the campus. There are teaching areas, office areas, student apartments, canteens and other necessary buildings to fulfill the needs of students.

汉学院位于西安外国语大学雁塔校区，教学面积14532.4m²，地理位置优越，交通便利、周围繁华，周边生活配套设施一应俱全，大唐不夜城、大雁塔、小雁塔及陕西历史博物馆等著名景点都可方便到达。校园内的设施也充分满足了学生的学习需求，设有教学区、办公区、学生公寓、餐饮等功能区。

There are a total of 33 classrooms of 100㎡, 40㎡ and 30㎡ and two meeting rooms that can accommodate 100 people in the school. A Chinese Culture Experience Center built in the style of a quadrangle courtyard is set here for activities such as painting and calligraphy teaching, tea art experiencing, folk dance teaching, reading and opinion exchanging. Besides, the school also has a computer room that can support 56 students taking the HSK test at the same time and can provide available computers for international students when they are in need.

学院有100平米、40平米、30平米等各类教室33间，容纳100人的会议室2间。拥有四合院建筑风格的中华文化体验中心1个，可开展书画教学、茶艺体验、民乐舞蹈教学和阅览交流等活动。计算机实验室可满足56名学生同时进行HSK网络考试及外国学员使用电脑的需求。

The campus can provide triple rooms (Department No. 2) and double rooms (Department No. 4 and International Faculty Apartment Building) for students and teachers, which can meet the requirements of accommodation for all kinds of international activities and summer/winter camp programs.

雁塔校区可提供标准三人间（2号公寓）、标准两人间（4号公寓）、标准两人间（专家楼）三个层次的住宿安排，可以满足各类来华项目及夏/冬令营项目的住宿要求。
