The Institute of Global Chinese Language Teacher Education in East China Normal University (ECNU), established in December 2008, is the first domestic institute listed by the former Confucius Institute Headquarters/Hanban (Now renames as Center for Language Education and Cooperation, MOE), aiming to promote Chinese language and culture worldwide. It is devoted to the training of high-quality local Chinese teachers with the support of educational resources overseas as well as the multidisciplinary advantages of ECNU. Being a platform jointly built by domestic and international academic experts and scholars, the Institute has now exerted great influence worldwide for its high-standard Chinese language teacher education, excellent training program, and efficient work team.

As a Chinese partner institution, ECNU has established a number of Confucius Institutes and independent Confucius Classrooms around the world: Confucius Institute of the Chinese American Association, Confucius Institute of the University of Turin, Italy, Confucius Institute of Vilnius University, Lithuania, Confucius Institute of Graz University, Austria, Confucius Classroom of Pay Fong High School，Malacca, Malaysia, and Confucius Classroom of Kosta, Singapore.

The Institute of Global Chinese Language Teacher Education is located at the Zhongbei Campus of ECNU. The campus is situated in the heart of Shanghai, close to the Global Port, the largest shopping mall in Asia. It has a beautiful landscape and a rich historical heritage, and is known as the most beautiful campus in Shanghai. In order to create a first-class environment and build a high-quality platform, the Institute of Global Chinese Language Teacher Education has basic facilities such as a Confucius Wall Statue Hall, a cultural exhibition hall, a lecture hall, a tea room, a resource room and small classrooms, as well as Australian, Thai and Indonesian style classrooms with the support of various consulates. As one of the pilot projects, the "Yuhe Smart Classroom" was launched beside the Li Wa River at the beginning of this year. The Institute made full use of the "Yuhe Smart Classroom" platform to organize customized training on information literacy for international Chinese teachers, and held exchanges such as interactive teaching competitions.

国际汉语教师研修基地成立于2008年12月，是原国家汉办/孔子学院总部(现教育部中外语言交流合作中心)在中国国内第一个挂牌的单位，以培养国外本土化中文师资为主要任务。它依托华东师范大学综合性的学科优势、丰富的海外资源，力求向国外输送中文“种子教师”。由中外专家、学者共同搭建的基地平台，以其高标准的国际中文教师培训、优质的进修课程、高效率的工作方式在国际上产生了很大的影响。

华东师大作为中方合作院校，在全球范围内建有多所孔子学院和独立孔子课堂：美国华美协进社孔子学院、意大利都灵大学孔子学院、立陶宛维尔纽斯大学孔子学院、奥地利格拉茨大学孔子学院、马来西亚马六甲培风中学孔子课堂、新加坡科思达孔子课堂。

国际汉语教师研修基地位于华东师范大学中北校区，学校坐落在上海市中心，紧邻亚洲最大购物中心--环球港。校内风景优美，具有浓厚的历史底蕴，被誉为上海最美校园。为打造一流环境，构建精品平台。国际汉语教师研修基地设有孔子壁像大厅、文化展厅、报告厅、茶室、资料室、小班教室等基本设施，同时在各领事馆的支持下，设有澳大利亚、泰国、印尼风格教室；作为试点之一，今年初“语合智慧教室”在丽娃河畔落地，基地充分利用“语合智慧教室”优势平台，组织国际中文教师信息化素养专题培训，举办互动教学大赛等交流等活动。

Since its establishment, The Institute has hosted more than 60 "Chinese Bridge" summer camps. We actively understand the backgrounds of the students, analyse their needs in detail, gather excellent front-line teachers, arrange the courses carefully, and pay close attention to every detail to fully ensure the quality of the "Chinese Bridge" summer camps. Since the epidemic, the programme has being held online and The Institute has incorporated the first of its kind live streaming courses.

The Institute has made full use of the geographical advantage and organized cultural visits for the participants. They visited Shanghai's characteristic Shikumen (a stone gate) and enjoyed the charm of Shanghai culture at the Tianzifang. And at the Oriental Pearl Tower, they overlooked the night view of the city, took a cruise on the river to see the scenery on both sides of the river, enjoying the most prosperous scenes of the international metropolis of Shanghai from a distance. The cultural activities allowed participants to experience the profound heritage of ancient China while discovering the rapid changes in modern China, which inspired them to explore China and identify with Chinese culture.

In terms of Chinese art skills, The Institute has set up a professional team of teachers. In addition to the traditional art classes such as paper-cutting, calligraphy, Chinese painting, Chinese knots and Tai Chi, our institute also offers special art classes such as tea art, Chinese gardening and shadow puppets, which are less normally accessible for the participants. Taking shadow puppets as an example, The Institute employs professional shadow puppet teachers to teach the students the classic stories of shadow puppets and instruct them to practice them, and to teach them to make simple shadow puppets, so that the students can fully feel the charm of traditional Chinese art while gaining a deeper understanding and perception of traditional Chinese cultural knowledge.

自成立以来，基地承办了“汉语桥”夏令营项目共60余次。我们在前期积极了解学员背景,细致分析需求，集合优秀一线教师，量体裁衣精心安排课程，紧抓每个细节,充分保证了“汉语桥”夏令营的精品质量。疫情以来，项目转为线上举行，基地也将首创的实境直播课程融入其中。

基地充分利用地缘优势，组织学员进行文化参观考察。在“田子坊”参观上海特色的石库门建筑，领略了海派文化的魅力；在东方明珠俯瞰城市夜景，乘浦江游船游览两岸风光，零距离欣赏上海这座国际化大都市最繁荣的景象。文化体验活动让学员既感受到古代中国的深厚底蕴，又能发现现代中国的日新月异，激发他们探索中国的热情和对中华文化的认同。

在中华才艺方面基地组建了专业的教师团队，除了较传统的剪纸、书法、中国画、中国结、太极拳等才艺课，基地还提供学员平时较难接触到的茶艺、中国园林、皮影戏等特色才艺课程。以皮影戏为例，基地聘请了专业的皮影戏教师，教授学员们皮影戏的经典故事并指导他们进行操练，教学员制作简易皮影人偶，学习过程中让学生充分感受到中国传统艺术魅力的同时对中国传统文化知识有更深的了解和感知。

In order to create a first-class environment and build a high-quality platform, the institute has basic facilities such as a Confucius Wall Statue Hall, a cultural exhibition hall, a lecture hall, a tea room, a resource room and some small classrooms, as well as Australian, Thai and Indonesian style classrooms with the support of various consulates. There are international student flats, International Exchange Service Center and the Yifu Building on the campus to provide accommodation for students, as well as free laundry and other facilities. In addition to the three canteens in Hedong, Hexi and Liwa, there are also three other canteens in Baihuayuan and West Yifu Building. The institute provides a unified campus card for trainees and offers a one-stop service for accommodation, medical treatment and sports on the campus, which can meet the accommodation and catering needs of all types of foreign incoming programmes.
