北京联合大学是1985年经教育部批准成立的北京市属综合性大学，其前身是1978年北京市依靠清华大学、北京大学等创办的36所大学分校。
Beijing Union University (BUU) is a comprehensive university under Beijing Municipality, established in 1985 with the approval of the Ministry of Education. Its predecessors are the 36 university branches founded in 1978 by Beijing Municipality and Tsinghua University, Peking University and other universities.

学校现有11个办学校区，占地约600余亩，校舍面积约50万平方米，中心校区毗邻国家奥林匹克体育中心。学校设有14个二级学院，在职教职工2600余人，其中专任教师约1551人，具有高级职称的839人，担任新一届教育部教学指导委员会以及行业指导委员会主任、副主任、委员等职务18人。学校以本科教育为主，研究生教育、高职教育、继续教育和来华留学生教育协调发展，在校学生2.2万余人，其中本科生1.6万余人，是北京市重点建设的应用型人才培养基地，也是北京市规模最大的高校之一。
BUU now has seven campuses, covering an area of about 600 mu, with its school buildings covering an area of about 500,000 square meters. Its main campus is adjacent to the Olympic Sports Center in Beijing. The university has 14 colleges, with about 2,600 teachers and staff in service, including about 1,551 full-time teachers, 839 of whom have senior professional titles, and 18 of whom are the directors, deputy directors and members of the new Steering Committee on Teaching and the Industry Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education. BUU offers mainly undergraduate education, with postgraduate education, higher vocational education, continuing education and education for international students all well developed. There are more than 22,000 students at school, including more than 16,000 undergraduates. The university is a key applied talent training base in Beijing and one of the largest universities in Beijing.
