北华大学是吉林省省属规模最大的重点综合性大学，是吉林省人民政府与国家林业和草原局共建高校。于1999年9月经国家教育部批准，由原吉林师范学院、吉林医学院、吉林林学院、吉林电气化高等专科学校合并组建而成，原四校前身分别为创办于1906年的吉林初级师范学堂、创办于1928年的吉林私立助产学校、创办于1952年的吉林省林业学校和创办于1920年的吉林省立职业学校。学校坐落在风景迷人的雾凇之都、中国魅力城市——吉林省吉林市。

学校现有本科专业88个，一级学科硕士学位授权点20个，硕士专业学位类别（领域）15个，涵盖11个学科门类；形成了由12个省级重点学科，15个国家级一流及特色专业，19个省级一流及特色高水平专业为引领的学科专业体系。拥有2个国家级实验教学示范中心，2个国家级大学生校外实践基地。

学校拥有国家地方联合工程实验室、国家林业和草原局重点实验室等51个国家和省级科研平台，18个省级创新团队。学校是吉林省林学会森林康养分会理事长单位，森林医学创新平台是省优势特色创新交叉平台。在全国综合性大学中率先成立冰雪学院，组建冰雪教育联盟，服务冰雪产业发展。无醛农林剩余物制造人造板关键共性技术系列成果填补国内空白，获国家科技进步二等奖，三年促进企业增产250亿元；林火预测预报技术支撑吉林省连续40年无重大森林火灾，切实维护了森林生态安全；学校航天科研团队全程参与嫦娥五号采样系统地面测试设备的设计与研发工作，为嫦娥五号构建了地面测试“广寒宫”；世界史学科编撰的东亚区域大型历史文献《长白丛书》在国内外学术界享有较高声誉。“十三五”期间，获批国家重点研发课题、国家社科基金重大项目等国家级项目60余项；获省级以上科研奖励115项。

学校在长期的办学实践中，形成了“一主多样性、创新实践型”人才培养体系。学校建立了以国家级实验教学示范中心、国家级大学生校外实践教育基地等20余个国家与省级教学平台为主体的实践教学基地支撑体系，开展了卓有成效的大学生创新创业实践育人活动，形成了“挑战杯”、电子竞赛、机械创新设计大赛等系列品牌，获国家一等奖161项，并获评“全国高校黄大年式教师团队”和国家教学成果二等奖。北华大学龙舟队在国际、国内重大龙舟赛事中先后获得73枚金牌，代表吉林省参加第十三届全运会、第十四届全国冬季运动会，获7枚金牌。艾泽铭同学获“全国抗击新冠肺炎疫情先进个人”国家荣誉称号，是全国唯一获此殊荣的在校大学生。

学校与20个国家、地区的68所院校或教育机构建立合作关系，开展多种形式的本科生、硕士研究生合作培养，与美国、英国和芬兰3所大学开展本科专业中外合作办学项目，与韩国江原大学共建孔子学院。学校是国家第二批来华留学示范基地，接受中国政府奖学金、孔子学院奖学金来华留学生院校，临床医学（英语授课）本科专业来华留学生教育资格校，获评全国来华留学生教育先进集体。

Beihua University is the largest key comprehensive university in Jilin Province, co-established by Jilin Provincial People's Government and National Forestry and Grassland Administration. In September 1999, approved by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China, Beihua University was established by the merger of the former Jilin Normal University, Jilin Medical College, Jilin Forestry College and Jilin Electric College. These former four schools were respectively Jilin Primary Normal School founded in 1906, Jilin Private Midwifery School founded in 1928, Jilin Forestry School founded in 1952, and Jilin Provincial Vocational School founded in 1920. Beihua University is located in Jilin City, Jilin Province, which is called the Chinese Charming City and the Rime Capital for its beautiful scenery.

Beihua University offers 88 undergraduate programs, 20 master's degree programs in first-level disciplines, and 15 professional master's degree categories (fields) covering 11 disciplines. It has formed a discipline and specialty system led by 12 provincial key disciplines, 15 national first-class and characteristic specialties, and 19 provincial first-class and characteristic high-level specialties. It has 2 national experimental teaching demonstration centers and 2 national off-campus practice bases for college students. 

Beihua University has 51 national and provincial scientific research platforms, including the National and Local Joint Engineering Laboratory, the Key Laboratory of the National Forestry and Grassland Administration, and 18 provincial innovation teams. It is the President Unit of Forest Health Nutrient Branch Association of Jilin Forestry Society. The forest medicine innovation platform is a featured innovation cross-platform with provincial advantages. Beihua University is the first comprehensive university in China to set up an Ice and Snow College and an Ice and Snow Education Alliance to serve the development of the ice and snow industry. The series of key generic technology achievements in the manufacture of wood-based panels from aldehyde-free agricultural and forestry residues filled the domestic blank, and won the second prize of National Science and Technology Progress, which promoted the enterprise to increase production by 25 billion Yuan in three years. Forest fire forecasting technology has supported Jilin Province to have no serious forest fire for 40 years in a row and effectively maintained the forest ecological security. The space research team of BHU participated entirely in the design and research and development of ground test equipment for Chang'e-5 sampling system, and built a ground test "Guanghan Palace" for Chang'e-5. Changbai Series, a large historical document in East Asia compiled by the discipline of World History, enjoys a high reputation in academic circles at home and abroad. During the 13th Five-Year Plan period, more than 60 national projects, such as national key research and development projects and major projects of national social science fund have been approved. 115 provincial and above rewards for scientific research have been awarded.

In the long-term practice of running school, Beihua University has formed a talent training system of "diversity, innovation and practice". It established a supporting system of practice and teaching base through more than 20 national and provincial teaching platform such as national experimental teaching demonstration center, the national college students' education off-campus practice base and so on, carrying out fruitful college students' innovative entrepreneurial practice educational activities and formed series of brands like the "challenge cup", electronic contest, mechanical innovation design competition, etc., which won 161 national first prizes, "Huang Danian Type Teacher Team of Nationwide Universities" and the second prize of national teaching achievements. The dragon boat team of Beihua University has won 73 gold medals in international and domestic important dragon boat events, and won 7 gold medals in the 13th National Games and the 14th National Winter Games on behalf of Jilin Province. Our student Ai Zeming was awarded the national honorary title of "National Advanced Individual in Fighting COVID-19", who was the only college student to receive this honor throughout the country.

Beihua University has established cooperative relations with 68 universities or educational institutions in 20 countries and regions and carried out various forms of cooperative training for undergraduate and postgraduate students. Beihua University has developed sino-foreign cooperative education programs for undergraduates with three universities respectively in the United States, the United Kingdom and Finland, and jointly established a Confucius Institute with Gangwon National University of South Korea. Beihua university is the second batch of the national demonstration base of students studying in China and awarded as the national advanced group for international students’ education. It is an institution that accepts Chinese Government Scholarship students and Confucius Institute Scholarship students, and an educational qualification school for international students majoring in MBBS.
