兰州资源环境职业技术大学是整合兰州财经大学长青学院、兰州资源环境职业技术学院办学资源，于2021年5月31日经教育部批准设置的省属公办本科层次职业大学。学校前身是隶属于中国气象局的原国家重点中专兰州气象学校（始建于1951年）和隶属于甘肃省煤炭工业局的甘肃煤炭职工大学（始建于1984年）。2004年经教育部备案、甘肃省政府批准，两校合并改建为我国西部第一所资源环境类普通高等职业院校。2021年3月，经甘肃省政府批准，将国家重点中专甘肃省水利水电学校（始建于1951年）整体并入兰州资源环境职业技术学院。

学校始终秉承“艰苦奋斗 永不放弃”的办学精神，不断创新教育教学理念、办学体制机制和人才培养模式，凝炼形成了“和谐教育”的办学理念、“品质至上”的校训、“求真务实”的校风、“立德树人”的教风和“知行合一”的学风。在70年的办学实践中，为国家和区域经济社会发展做出了重要贡献。

学校全日制在校生20000余人，其中本科生800人，高职生18800余人，中职生500余人。现有4个校区，1个产教融合示范园，占地面积2307亩，建筑面积43.37万平方米，教学科研仪器设备总值30254万元，校内实训场及实验实训室237个（其中：国家级协同创新中心1个，国家级生产性实训基地3个，省级重点实验室1个），校外实习实训基地221个。图书馆藏书143万册。

学校聚焦国家战略和区域经济社会发展需求，按照“错位设置、非均衡建设、星级管理、专业群发展”的专业群建设策略，重点构建了气象、冶金、环保、安全、财贸等紧密对接甘肃十大生态产业人才需求的资源环境类特色专业布局。现有专业77个（含8个本科专业），其中，应用气象、金属材料精密成型2个专业群入选国家“双高计划”高水平专业群，建成国家级协同创新中心1个，国家级骨干专业10个、国家级精品专业1个、教育部首批现代学徒制试点专业1个、省级特色专业7个、省级骨干专业9个、省级“双高计划”高水平专业群2个，主持国家级专业教学资源库1项，获国家级教学成果二等奖3项，省级教学成果一等奖7项、二等奖5项。

学校重视社会服务，发挥品牌优势，致力于完善现代职业教育培训体系和推动技能型社会建设。建有教育部职业院校校长培训培育基地、国家专业技术人员继续教育基地、国家高等职业院校专业骨干教师培训基地、国家安监总局宣教中心甘肃安全宣教培训基地、中国气象局干部培训学院甘肃分院、全国有色冶金技术“双师型”教师培养培训基地、甘肃应急管理学院、甘肃省中小微企业人才精准服务平台、甘肃省大学生海外就业服务中心、甘肃省安全生产培训考试示范基地、兴陇兰州牛肉拉面国际商学院、陇原工匠培训基地、煤基产业学院等社会服务平台近30个，每年为社会提供各类专业培训近20000人次。

Lanzhou Resource＆Environment Voc-Tech University is a provincial public undergraduate vocational university approved by the Ministry of Education on May 31, 2021 by integrating the educational resources of Changqing College of Lanzhou University of Finance and Economics and Lanzhou Resource＆Environment Voc-Tech College. The predecessor of the university was the former Lanzhou Meteorological School (founded in 1951), a national key technical secondary school under the China Meteorological Administration and Gansu Coal Workers College (founded in 1984) under the Gansu Coal Industry Bureau. In 2004, the two schools were merged and rebuilt into the first general higher vocational college of resources and environment in in Western China after being filed by the Ministry of Education and approved by the Gansu Provincial Government. In March 2021, with the approval of Gansu Provincial Government, Gansu Water Conservancy and Hydropower School, a national key technical secondary school founded in 1951, was integrated into the Lanzhou Resource＆Environment Voc-Tech College.

Adhering to the university spirit of "hard work and never giving up", the university has been constantly innovating the education and teaching concepts, running systems and talent training models. The university has been following the running philosophy of "harmonious education", the motto of "quality first", the spirit of "seeking truth and being pragmatic", the teaching style of "cultivating people with morality" and the learning style of "integration of knowledge and action". In 70 years of education running practice, it has made important contributions to national and regional economic and social development.

The university has more than 20,000 full-time students, including 800 undergraduates, more than 18,800 vocational students and 500 secondary vocational students. There are 4 campuses and 1 demonstration park for integration of production and education, covering an area of 2307 mu, with a construction area of 433,700 square meters, a total value of 302.54 million yuan in teaching and research equipment, and 237 on-campus training fields and experimental training rooms (including 1 national collaborative innovation center, 3 national productive training bases, 1 provincial key laboratory), 221 off-campus practice and training bases. The library has a collection of 1.43 million books.

Focusing on the national strategy and the needs of regional economic and social development, and in accordance with the professional group construction strategy of  "dislocation, unbalanced construction, star management, and professional group development", the university established the the layout of resources and environment specialty closely connecting the needs of ten ecological industry talents in Gansu, such as meteorology, metallurgy, environmental protection, safety, finance and trade. There are currently 77 majors (including 8 undergraduate majors). Of which, 2 applied meteorology and metal material precision molding are selected as high-level professional groups in the national "Double High Plan" and a high-level professional group has been established, including 1 National Collaborative Innovation Center, 10 national backbone majors, 1 national high-quality specialty, 1 of the first batch of modern apprenticeship pilot majors of the Ministry of education, 7 provincial characteristic majors, 9 provincial backbone majors, 2 provincial high-level professional groups under the "double high program". There are 1 national professional teaching resource data base, 3 second prizes for national teaching achievements, 7 first prizes for provincial teaching achievements, and 5 second prizes for provincial teaching achievements.

The university attaches great importance to social services and brand advantages, and is committed to improving the modern vocational education and training system and promoting the construction of a skilled society. The university has established nearly 30 bases and social service platforms, e.g., the training and cultivation base for principals of Vocational Colleges, the national continuing education base for professional and technical personnel, the training base for professional backbone teachers of national higher vocational colleges, the Gansu safety publicity and education training base of the publicity and education center of the State Administration of work safety, the Gansu Branch of the cadre training college of the China Meteorological Administration, the national "double qualified" teacher training base of nonferrous metallurgy technology, Gansu Emergency Management College, Gansu small and micro enterprise talent Precision service platform, College Student Overseas Employment Service Center of Gansu Province , Gansu Safety Production Training Examination Demonstration Base, Xinglong Lanzhou beef Ramen international business school, Longyuan craftsman training base and coal based industry academy, which provide nearly 20,000 people with various professional training every year.

At a new historical starting point, with the guidance of Xi Jinping’s thoughts on socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era and adhering to morality, the university will deepen the integration of industry and education, serve the national strategy and local development needs, and explore the eduacation running mode and development path of undergraduate vocational colleges with Chinese characteristics to cultivate high-level technical skilled talents with theoretical foundations, knowledge systems, professional capabilities, and solid accumulation of technical skills, form a highland for talent training, promote regional industrial upgrading and form a highland for social services, increase technical added value, form a technological innovation highland, serve the "Belt and Road".  It is striving for the pioneer of occupation education to open to the west, and strives to build a distinctive and high-level vocational and Technical University with local recognition and international communication.
