This project has created online courses of horticulture, relying on the strong teaching resources of gardening and horticulture in Weifang Vocational College. The courses includes daily Chinese, professional Chinese, traditional Chinese culture, and Chinese horticulture knowledge and skills. It will help the students learn Chinese and Chinese horticulture, as well as develop their hands-on abilities. This project contains real-time teaching, online visits and online activities. The courses are divided into three parts： Part One: communicative Chinese and horticultural Chinese. Communicative Chinese covers basic Chinese in daily communication, and horticultural Chinese includes the terms related to vegetables, flowers and plants, edible mushrooms, vegetable production equipment, etc. Part Two: online visit and online operation. Online visits include Weifang Vocational College and its Smart Agriculture Training Center, vegetable production base, flower production base and edible mushrooms production base. Online operation includes the techniques such as potted plant pruning and maintenance, potting and repotting of flowers, flower cutting, pre-seeding processing of vegetable seeds and vegetable tray seedling. Part Three: online activities. Students will participate in knowledge competition, and experience Weifang kites, New Year painting and other traditional Chinese arts.
