Weifang is located in the middle of Shandong Peninsula. It is an open coastal city with a long history and enduring culture and is the transportation hub along the Ji-Qing expressway and the Jiao-Ji railway. Several domestic routes are linked to Weifang Airport and the annual throughput of Weifang Port is huge. With a population of over 9.38 million, its industry and commerce are very prosperous. With its developed transportation and beautiful scenery, Weifang is a comfortable city to live in. It is noted as a garden city, a model city of environmental protection and a national sanitary city. 

Weifang is famous for its ancient culture and various folk customs. Some of the noted worthy attractions are the Mount Yi, the vast salt field and the dinosaur fossils. The other famous sites include unearthed relics and Han dynasty tombs, and the giant “寿” character stone inscription in Yunmen Mountain. The highest imperial examination paper of the Number One Scholar Zhao in the Ming Dynasty is found here. The traditional arts include paper-cuts of peasant households, and New Year woodcut pictures. In addition, Weifang has long been famous for kites and known as the World’s Kite Capital. The international Kite Festival is held here every year, attracting kites’ enthusiasts from all over the world.
