Qufu is the hometown of Confucius, a famous thinker, educator and founder of Confucianism. It has a long history and profound cultural heritage. Qufu’s “San Kong” (Confucius Temple, Confucius Mansion and Confucius Family Cemetery) is listed as a world cultural heritage by UNESCO because of its prominent position in Chinese history and world oriental culture. Qufu is respected as one of the three holy cities in the world. In the long history of more than 2000 years, Confucian culture has gradually become China’s orthodox culture, affected East and Southeast Asian countries, and become the cornerstone of the whole oriental culture. Qufu and Confucian culture have a high reputation and universal influence among Chinese as a second language learners around the world. Due to the impact of the epidemic and the obstruction of the road, they can’t be there and feel the charm of the ancient city. Therefore, we designed this online winter camp with the theme of “Travel Around Confucius’ Hometown and Feel the Confucian Culture”. The winter camp focuses on introducing the scenic spots, cultural customs and contemporary features of Qufu so that students can experience culture, learn practical Chinese expressions and feel the fun of learning Chinese.
