沈阳师范大学隶属辽宁省人民政府，始建于1951年，前身为东北教育学院。2011年、2021年，学校党委先后两次荣获辽宁省委“先进基层党组织”荣誉称号。近年来，学校连续进入“上海软科”全国最好大学排名200强。

学校形成了本科生教育、研究生教育、留学生教育协调发展的育人体系。现有全日制本科生21017人，硕士研究生3934人，长短期留学生1100人。学校学科门类齐全，涉及哲学、经济学、法学、教育学、文学、理学、工学、管理学、艺术学等9大学科。现有本科专业77个，国家一流专业20个、国家级一流本科课程9门。现有硕士一级学科学位授权点23个，专业硕士学位授权点16个。教育学学科为辽宁省一流学科A类层次学科，首批全国教育硕士综合改革试点单位。

Shenyang Normal University was established in 1951, which is directly administered by Liaoning provincial government. It was originally founded as The Northeastern Education College. In 2011 and 2021, the university Party Committee was twice awarded the accolade of "The Advanced Party Organization in Grass-roots Unit” by Liaoning Provincial Party Committee. In recent years, the school has successively entered the top 200 of the "Shanghai Soft Science" Best universities in the country. 

Shenyang Normal University has formed a education system featuring the coordinated development of undergraduate education, graduate education and international education. By December 2023, there are 21017 undergraduate, 3,934 postgraduate students and 1,100 long-term and short-term international students. It boasts a complete range of disciplines, involving philosophy, economics, law, education, literature, science, engineering, management, and art. There are 77 undergraduate programs, 20 national first-class programs, and 9 national first-class undergraduate courses. By now, Shenyang Normal University has been approved 23 first-level discipline to award master's degree programs and has 16 professional master's degree programs. The pedagogic discipline is A first-class discipline in Liaoning Province, as well as one of the first batch of pilot units for the national comprehensive reform of Master of Education.

Shenyang Normal University has always adhered to the concept of scientific and technological innovation and the philosophy of open education and win-win cooperation.
