沈阳师范大学隶属辽宁省人民政府，始建于1951年，前身为东北教育学院，1953年更名为沈阳师范学院，是当时东北地区创办最早的两所本科师范院校之一。1965年更名为辽宁第一师范学院，1978年恢复沈阳师范学院校名。2000年，学校成功换建新校园，为学校事业发展奠定坚实基础。2002年，辽宁省政府决定并经教育部批准，沈阳师范学院与辽宁教育学院合并组建沈阳师范大学。2011年、2021年，学校党委先后两次荣获辽宁省委“先进基层党组织”荣誉称号。2020年，学校进入“上海软科”全国最好大学排名200强；2021年，排名又有新跃升。

学校占地面积123万平方米，建筑面积95万平方米。现有全日制本科生20272人，硕士研究生3670人，长短期留学生1100人。设有26个二级学院和19个校属馆、部、中心、研究所及附属机构。在黎巴嫩、约旦、乌克兰设有孔子学院共3所，在巴基斯坦开设网络中文课堂1个；辽宁省基础教育教研培训中心、辽宁教育行政学院、辽宁省电化教育馆、辽宁古生物博物馆、辽宁省幼儿师资培训中心均设在我校。

学校现有一支政治素质过硬、业务能力精湛、育人水平高超的高素质教师队伍。现有教职工2243人，专任教师1348人，其中正高级专业技术人员234人、副高级专业技术人员576人，具有博士学位教师567人。现有“长江学者”特聘教授1人，国家“万人计划”领军人才（教学名师）1人，国家百千万人才工程人选1人，享受国务院政府特殊津贴专家8人，全国优秀教师2人，全国专业社会工作领军人才1人，省优秀专家5人，省“兴辽英才计划”29人（攀登学者3人、特聘教授12人、百千万人才工程领军人才1人、哲学社会科学领军人才2人、教学名师2人、青年拔尖人才9人），省“四个一批”人才2人，省“百千万人才工程”人选111人，省高校本科教学名师16人，省创新人才支持计划16人，省“兴辽英才计划”黄大年式教师团队2个，省高等学校创新团队13个。

学校形成了本科生教育、研究生教育、留学生教育协调发展的育人体系。现有本科专业77个，国家一流专业15个、国家级特色专业4个、国家级综合改革试点专业1个、国家级一流本科课程6门、国家级实验教学示范中心1个、国家级大学生校外实践教育基地1个、国家级卓越法律人才培养基地1个、中外合作办学机构1个、教育部卓越幼儿园教师培养计划改革项目1个、教育部卓越中学教师培养计划改革项目1个、国家虚拟仿真实验教学项目1项。省级一流本科教育示范专业31个、省级优势特色专业5个、省级大学生创业项目选育基地1个、省级大学生校外实践教育基地12个、省级教学团队8个、省级实验教学示范中心13个、省级工程实践教育中心1个、省级一流课程91门。学校是优秀应届本科生推免攻读硕士学位研究生单位，教育部深化创新创业教育改革示范高校，教育部中小学教师国家级培训基地，教育部中华优秀传统文化传承基地（京剧），文化部中国非物质文化遗产研修研习培训基地，中国政府和孔子学院奖学金留学生接受单位、商务部援外培训承办基地。

学校学科门类齐全，涵盖哲学、经济学、法学、教育学、文学、理学、工学、管理学、艺术学9大学科，在2020年上海软科最好大学排名中进入TOP200，2021年又提升4个位次。现有硕士一级学科学位授权点25个，专业硕士学位授权点11个。教育学学科入选辽宁省一流学科A类层次，建有3个国家二级学会，入选“人大复印资料转载权威来源机构”。在全国第四轮学科评估中，教育学进入全国同学科前20-30%。教育硕士获批东北地区首批全国教育硕士综合改革试点单位，在全国首次专业学位水平评估中，教育硕士专业学位授权点获得B，位列辽宁第一、东北第二。

学校始终坚持科技创新理念，不断提高科研工作核心竞争力。学校现有省级及以上科技类创新平台24个，其中国际科技组织合作平台1个、省高校重大科技平台1个、重点实验室10个、工程（技术）研究中心5个、协同创新中心2个、校地校企研究院2个、技术转移示范机构1个、科技成果（知识产权）转化和技术转移基地1个、星创天地1个；省级及以上人文社科类创新平台38个，其中研究基地33个、校地校企研究院2个、新型智库3个；省级科研团队24个，其中创新团队13个、教育决策咨询研究团队2个、科技特派团8个、农村科技特派员工作团1个。学校近五年获批国家级项目207项，其中重大重点项目7项；获批省级以上政府奖97项，学校教师出版著作517部，授权专利300余项，发表学术论文7192篇。学校共发表6篇《自然》杂志学术论文和1篇《科学》杂志学术论文，在中国CNS论文排行榜100强，位居辽宁省第1位，全国第18位。

学校秉承开放办学和合作共赢的理念，创新机制、提质增效，拓展与世界高水平大学的深度合作。目前，与五大洲32个国家及地区的158所高校和机构建立了友好合作关系；现有中外合作办学机构1个、中外合作办学项目1个，与美国、日本等国家和地区高校开展联合培养博士项目4个；设有黎巴嫩、约旦、乌克兰海外孔子学院3所和巴基斯坦网络中文课堂1个；部级国际科技组织合作平台1个，部级国别区域研究中心1个；是中国政府奖学金和孔子学院奖学金接受单位、商务部援外培训承办单位、教育部中外语言交流合作中心外派汉语师资岗前培训单位、中国高等教育学会外国留学生管理分会副理事长单位、辽宁省教育国际交流协会副会长单位和来华分会会长单位、辽宁省来华留学示范建设高校、辽宁省孔子学院合作大学联盟副理事长单位、辽宁省政府外事交流员接收和派出单位、辽宁省“两岸大学生交流基地”。

Shenyang Normal University is subordinate to Liaoning Provincial People’s Government, its predecessor, Northeastern College of Education, was founded in 1951. In 1953, the school name was changed to Shenyang Normal College, which as one of the two earliest undergraduate normal colleges established in the Northeast China at that time. In 1965, the name changed again, to Liaoning No. 1 Normal College, and then, in 1978, resumed to Shenyang Normal College. In 2002, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, the Provincial People’s Government decided to combine Shenyang Normal College with Liaoning College of Education to establish Shenyang Normal University.

The university covers an area of 125 hectors with building area of 0.8 million square meters and books collection of 1.800 million. There are 20272 full-time undergraduate and college students, 3670 master postgraduates and near 1100 foreign students. Now our university has cultivated more than 70,000 teachers and other talents having both ability and moral integrity for the country and especially made great contributions to the education career of Liaoning.

Liaoning Provincial Basic Education Teaching and Research Training Center, Liaoning Educational Administration Institute and Liaoning Audio-Visual Education Hall are established in our university. Now there are 26 second colleges including College of Educational Science, College of Foreign Languages, Software College, International Business College, Educational Technology College and College of Dramatic Art, etc. and 12 halls, departments and centers. With 75 undergraduate specialties and 128 master’s degree programs, it is the unit that develops in-service employee applying for master’s degree and master’s degree of education with the same educational level as postgraduates and also the unit that can accept Chinese Government Scholarship students. It has six national and provincial-level key bases, four provincial-level key disciplines and key co-construction disciplines, seven provincial and city-level key laboratories and twelve comprehensive laboratories. And there are 33 research institutions like Institute of Education Economics and Management, Institute of Chinese Culture and Literature, Paleontology Research Institute, Institute of Human Resource Development and Management and Insect Research Institute, etc. and four cooperation bases of enterprise, university and scientific research.

The university currently has 1645 full-time teachers and 14 specially-appointed professors, of which, 2 are academicians of Chinese Academy of Sciences, 244 are professors and 593 are associate professors. Otherwise, many academicians of the two institutes and foreign and domestic experts and scholars who have great scientific attainments are engaged as honorary professors and part-time professors and we also engage 30 foreign teachers. The university has successively signed agreements on international academic exchange and cooperation with over 30 universities and colleges and scientific research institutions of America, England, Canada, Japan, Russia, Belgium, Denmark, Australia and Korea, etc.
