鲁东大学始建于1930年，位于山东烟台，是一所以文理工为主体、多学科协调发展的省属综合性大学，现设22个学院、74个研究院（所）、87个本科专业、1个博士后科研流动站、1个博士人才培养项目、33个硕士专业。在校生3万余人。

学校坚持开放办学，是原国家教委首批公布的具有接收外国留学生资格的200所高校之一，是全国首批通过高等学校来华留学质量正式认证的22所高校之一，接收各类奖学金来华留学生，每年长短期留学生人数1200余人。

Ludong University (LDU), a provincial university founded in 1930, is located in Yantai, Shandong Province. LDU has been specially strong in humanities, science and engineering, with all fields developing concertedly. LDU has 74 research institutes and 22 schools, offering 87 specialties for bachelor programs, 33 specialties for master programs, a postdoctoral training program, and a doctoral program. Now there are more than 30,000 students studying on campus. 

As one of the first 200 universities qualified for adopting international students and of the first 22 universities passing the official quality certification of international student education and management, LDU has been working on openness. There are averagely more than 1200 international students enrolled in LDU. They are eligible to apply for scholarships.
