Classroom Rules

●  Attend class on time, don’t be late or leave early.
●  Turn off your mobile phone or mute it in class.
●  Follow the instructions of tutors in class.
●  Ask for leave of absence from the coordinator and teacher if you have physical discomfort.
●  Finish homework assigned by the teacher in time.

Normally, you will have 3 meals in the University Students Dinning Hall,
sometimes at restaurants (or have fast foods). Basically all the meals will be buffet style, and will have a paper tag detailing all the food materials. You can choose as you wish.
The breakfast time is from 7:00-10:00, the lunch time is usually from
12:10-13:30*, and the dinner time is usually from 17:00-19:00*.
*All meal times are subject to change.



We will arrange coaches to pick up all students & teachers to visit attractions and each coach will have at least one staff/student volunteer on board.

●  Students will be accompanied to their accommodation by staff at around 8pm every day and should not leave unless there is an emergency (Please notify your teacher and BLCU staff that is on call in case of an emergency).
●   学生将在每天晚上8点左右由工作人员陪同前往住宿,除非有紧急情况,否则不得离开(如有紧急情况,请通知您的老师和BLCU的工作人员)。
●  It is strictly forbidden for students to wander outside after 9pm.
●  晚上9点后严禁学生外出。

Attractions Nearby Hospital

If you need emergent medical assistance during your trip, dial 120 and ask for an ambulance. You should also contact your insurance/medical assistance company as soon as possible to inform them of what has happened. If you do need to go to a hospital you will be asked to pay in advance so make sure you have cash or a credit card available. You will also need to have details of your insurance with you. We will have staffs or volunteers to be with you.

The Forbidden City
The Forbidden City is the largest and most well preserved imperial residence in China today. Under Ming Emperor Yongle, construction began in 1406. It took 14 years to build the Forbidden City. The first ruler who actually lived here was Ming Emperor Zhudi. For five centuries thereafter, it continued to be the residence of 23 successive emperors until 1911 when Qing Emperor Puyi was forced to abdicate the throne. In 1987, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) recognized the Forbidden City as a world cultural legacy.

Summer Palace
Summer Palace is the imperial garden of the Chinese Qing Dynasty, based on the blueprint of West Lake in Hangzhou, drew up a large landscape garden built by the design techniques of Jiangnan garden, which was built for Qian Longdi's visits. Now it is the most well-preserved imperial palace. It is known as "Royal Garden Museum" and is also a national key tourist attraction.

Tian’anmen Square
Tiananmen, located in the center of Beijing, the capital of People's Republic of China, and the southern end of the Imperial Palace, has attracted the attention of the world with outstanding architectural art and special political status. Tiananmen is the main gate of the two dynasties of Beijing in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, located on the axis of Beijing's imperial city. It is where the founding ceremony for People’s Republic of China was held and a symbol for China.

National Museum
The National Museum of China is the ancestral temple of Chinese culture. It is the highest historical and cultural hall of history and culture reflecting the excellent traditional culture, revolutionary culture and advanced socialist culture of China. The collection of over 140 pieces of collection here has fully demonstrated and witnessed the 5000 years of Chinese civilization's blood flow and splendor.

The Great Wall
The Great Wall of China is called the "Ten thousand Li Great Wall" in Chinese. In fact, it's more than 6000 kilometers long. It winds its way from west to east, across deserts, over mountains, through valleys till at last it reaches the sea. It is one of the wonders of the world.

Olympic Park
Built for the 2008 Olympics, the Olympic Park is where the Beijing National Stadium, National Swimming Center and a number of other Olympic stadiums are located. It embodies the three ideas of "science and technology, green and humanities", which is a new urban area that integrates business, hotel, culture, sports, conference and residence.

Maliandao Tea Shopping Mall
Beijing Maliandao Tea Shopping Mall is located in the center of "Jingcheng Tea First Street" and is a large-scale tea market. There are more than 300 tea shops from more than ten provinces and cities nationwide, with an annual sales of nearly 300 million yuan. In addition to tea business, it also operates tea sets, tea crafts, tea ceremony and tea culture communication.

Beijing 's hutongs ,lanes or alleys formed by lines of siheyuan (a compound with houses around a courtyard) where old Beijing residents live witness the vicissitude of the city. The word "hutong" originates from the word "hottog" which means "well" in Mongolian villagers dig out a well and inhabited there. Hutong means a lane or alley, in fact the passage formed by lines of siheyuan (a compound with houses around a courtyard) where old Beijing residents live. Be care not to lost in it! It was recorded that in the Yuan a 36-meter-wide road was called a standard street, 18-meter-wide one was a small street and a 9-meter-wide lane was named a utong. In fact, Beijing 's hutongs are in equable ranging from 40 centimeter to 1 meter in wide. The longest has more than 20 turns. The gray-tiled houses and alleys crossing with each other in identical appearance like a maze, you will find it much fun to walk through but be care not to lost yourself.

798 Arts Park
798 Arts park is named after the 798 factory which was built in 1950s. It is ocated in the northeast corner of Beijing. Characterized by the feature of modern art, it has now become the exhibition center of Chinese culture and art. It is also the world-famous centralized area of cultural and creative industries. It frequently holds important international art exhibitions and art activities as well as fashion shows. Many world-famous political figures, movie stars and social celebrities have not been able to resist the art zone's attraction and have come to pay a visit.
Song Qingling Youth Science Technology and Culture Exchange Center China
Song Qingling Youth Science and Technology Cultural Exchange Center is a national-level demonstration and experimental platform for promoting Song Qingling's spirit, leading and serving the growth of young people. It is an open and practical platform for Chinese and foreign youths to understand, interact, exchange and cooperate with each other.

The Capital Museum
The Capital Museum is a palace of Beijing culture. Its collections relate to the long development of the capital city, showcasing its magnificent living history of 500,000 years, urban history of 3,000 years and history as the Chinese capital for 800 years. The museum also presents cultural and artistic exhibitions from different regions and displays the achievements of various ethnic groups at home and abroad. You can feel the breadth of both Chinese and world civilizations.

Safety and Security

Beijing is generally very safe; however, it is still an international metropolis and some general safety points do apply. Here are some safety tips for you to consider in the meantime:
● When travelling never leave your bags unattended or ask others to watch them for you.
● Exercise caution when crossing streets and intersections.
● Crossing the road: please look both ways before crossing. Cars drive on the right (opposite from in the UK), and even when the light is red, cars may turn right.
● Keep essential phone numbers with you.
● Don’t carry unnecessary/lots of cash and keep all valuables out of sight.不要随身携带不必要的/大量的现金和一些贵重物品。
● If you lose credit cards cancel them at once. Make sure you know how to do this.
● Don’t carry your passport with you unless you need it; leave it in your locked room.
● Keep a photocopy of your passport, airline tickets and ID in your room.把护照、机票和身份证的复印件放在房间里。
● Keep small change for a taxi/the bus.
● Walk in groups, remain together and look out for each other.
● Don’t wander off alone for any reason.
● Don’t visit the homes or ride in the cars of new acquaintances.
● Don’t invite new acquaintances to your hotel room.
● If you see a classmate leaving or walking with a stranger, report to teacher/staff/volunteer, see if they are ok.
● Be alert when standing in crowds.
● We hope you never need to use it, but please call 110/119/120 in the event of an emergency to get the police/fire brigade/an ambulance.

What to bring
● Below are some ideas to help you pack. If you can’t pack some of these items,don’t worry–Beijing is an international metropolis with lots of shops at reasonable prices.
● If you forgot to bring any basic items, the Wumart is an economically priced supermarket on campus, which is located in the basement of Hongyuan Building,opening from 7am-11pm.
● If you have a laptop, it is advisable to bring it to Beijing as you can then work inyour hotel room, which may be more convenient for you.
● Stationery:A pen and paper/notebook will be useful to take any notes during class time,more stationery (such as folders/notepads) can be purchased upon arrival from the campus shop.
● Toiletries:You could bring basic toiletries like soap, toothpaste and shampoo, some of which will be provided by the hotel and they can also be bought from the campus shop.
● Electronics:China takes 2-pin or 3-pin grounded plug so you should make sure you have anadapter that fits.
● Phone charger and camera.Documents to include in your hand luggagePassport, visa, invitation letter and flight booking confirmation/ticketsBudgeting for your stay.
● Most of the expenses like tuition, meals, transportation, accommodation andsightseeing tickets are already covered.

● Avoid carrying large amounts of cash.

● All tickets will be collected after use.

Climate and Clothing
● It is much hotter in Beijing and maximum temperatures in July are an average of 37 ℃ .So please bring summer clothes and take proper measures to protect yourself from high temperature and stay hydrated.
● Comfortable footwear is essential, as a lot of the trips involve walking.舒适的鞋子是必不可少的,因为很多旅行都需要步行。
● You should also bring something you can play sport in (such as track suit trousers or leggings, t-shirt, and sports shoes e.g. trainers).
