Classroom Rules

●  Attend class on time, don’t be late or leave early.
●  Turn off your mobile phone or mute it in class.
●  Follow the instructions of tutors in class.
●  Ask for leave of absence from the coordinator and teacher if you have physical discomfort.
●  Finish homework assigned by the teacher in time.

Normally, you will have 3 meals in the University Students Dinning Hall,
sometimes at restaurants (or have fast foods). Basically all the meals will be buffet style, and will have a paper tag detailing all the food materials. You can choose as you wish.
The breakfast time is from 7:00-10:00, the lunch time is usually from
12:10-13:30*, and the dinner time is usually from 17:00-19:00*.
*All meal times are subject to change.

●  You will share a twin-bed room with one of your classmates of the same gender and have your own bathroom facilities inside the room.

●  It is strictly forbidden for students to wander outside after 9pm.

If you need emergent medical assistance during your trip, dial 120 and ask for an ambulance. You should also contact your insurance/medical assistance company as soon as possible to inform them of what has happened. If you do need to go to a hospital you will be asked to pay in advance so make sure you have cash or a credit card available. You will also need to have details of your insurance with you. We will have staffs or volunteers to be with you.

The Forbidden City
The Forbidden City is the largest and most well preserved imperial residence in China today. Under Ming Emperor Yongle, construction began in 1406. It took 14 years to build the Forbidden City. The first ruler who actually lived here was Ming Emperor Zhudi. For five centuries thereafter, it continued to be the residence of 23 successive emperors until 1911 when Qing Emperor Puyi was forced to abdicate the throne. In 1987, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) recognized the Forbidden City as a world cultural legacy.

Summer Palace
Summer Palace is the imperial garden of the Chinese Qing Dynasty, based on the blueprint of West Lake in Hangzhou, drew up a large landscape garden built by the design techniques of Jiangnan garden, which was built for Qian Longdi's visits. Now it is the most well-preserved imperial palace. It is known as "Royal Garden Museum" and is also a national key tourist attraction.
颐和园是中国清朝的皇家园林，供乾隆皇帝游览之用。它是以杭州西湖为设计蓝本，用江南园林的设计手法勾勒出的一座大型园林，现在它是中国保存最完好的皇家园林，有“皇家园林博物馆”之称，也是国家重点旅游景点。

Tian’anmen Square
Tiananmen, located in the center of Beijing, the capital of People's Republic of China, and the southern end of the Imperial Palace, has attracted the attention of the world with outstanding architectural art and special political status. Tiananmen is the main gate of the two dynasties of Beijing in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, located on the axis of Beijing's imperial city. It is where the founding ceremony for People’s Republic of China was held and a symbol for China.

National Museum
The National Museum of China is the ancestral temple of Chinese culture. The Great Wall

Maliandao Tea Shopping Mall
Beijing Maliandao Tea Shopping Mall is located in the center of "Jingcheng Tea First Street" and is a large-scale tea market. There are more than 300 tea shops from more than ten provinces and cities nationwide, with an annual sales of nearly 300 million yuan. In addition to tea business, it also operates tea sets, tea crafts, tea ceremony and tea culture communication.

Hutongs
Beijing 's hutongs ,lanes or alleys formed by lines of siheyuan (a compound with houses around a courtyard) where old Beijing residents live witness the vicissitude of the city. The word "hutong" originates from the word "hottog" which means "well" in Mongolian villagers dig out a well and inhabited there. Hutong means a lane or alley, in fact the passage formed by lines of siheyuan (a compound with houses around a courtyard) where old Beijing residents live. Be care not to lost in it! It was recorded that in the Yuan a 36-meter-wide road was called a standard street, 18-meter-wide one was a small street and a 9-meter-wide lane was named a utong. In fact, Beijing 's hutongs are in equable ranging from 40 centimeter to 1 meter in wide. The longest has more than 20 turns. The gray-tiled houses and alleys crossing with each other in identical appearance like a maze, you will find it much fun to walk through but be care not to lost yourself.

798 Arts Park
798 Arts park is named after the 798 factory which was built in 1950s. It is ocated in the northeast corner of Beijing. The Capital Museum
The Capital Museum is a palace of Beijing culture. Safety and Security

Beijing is generally very safe; however, it is still an international metropolis and some general safety points do apply. Here are some safety tips for you to consider in the meantime:
北京总体上是非常安全的，但是还是要考虑一些安全问题：
● When travelling never leave your bags unattended or ask others to watch them for you.
旅行时不要把行李放在无人看管的地方，也不要让陌生人帮你保管。
● Exercise caution when crossing streets and intersections.

● Crossing the road: please look both ways before crossing. Cars drive on the right (opposite from in the UK), and even when the light is red, cars may turn right.

● Keep essential phone numbers with you.

● Follow the instructions of the activity coordinator for security reasons.

Climate and Clothing
● It is much hotter in Beijing and maximum temperatures in July are an average of 37 ℃ .So please bring summer clothes and take proper measures to protect yourself from high temperature and stay hydrated.
北京的天气要热得多，7月份的最高气温在37度左右，所以请带上夏装并采取适当的防护措施。
● Comfortable footwear is essential, as a lot of the trips involve walking.舒适的鞋子是必不可少的，因为很多旅行都需要步行。
● You should also bring something you can play sport in (such as track suit trousers or leggings, t-shirt, and sports shoes e.g. trainers).
