Aiming at the common diseases and illnesses in the South Pacific region, this theme provides localized and personalized healthcare solutions, self-diagnosis and simple analysis of their body constitution. There are many islands in the South Pacific, and most of them have tropical and humid subtropical climates. Common diseases and symptoms in the South Pacific include cervical spondylosis, lumbar spondylosis, strain injury, arthritis, obesity; skin diseases caused by sun exposure due to abundant light in the South Pacific; gastrointestinal diseases caused by parasites due to long-term sea travel or seafood consumption. This topic will introduce the basic knowledge of TCM that is suitable for local people in the South Pacific to learn and master to maintain the health of people living in the South Pacific region. In addition, based on the content of the self-diagnosis for common diseases in the South Pacific island countries and combined with the local situation, this course covers the teaching of Chinese phonetics, phrases, reading, listening and speaking, to develop students’ overall language skills and improve their ability to express themselves logically in Chinese.
