The Capital Museum is a provincial-level comprehensive museum in China located in the Confucian Temple on Guozijian Street, Dongcheng District, Beijing. In the city, there exists an ancient and mysterious urban axis that was formed in the Yuan Dynasty. Like a “spine”, it runs through the north and the south, forming a symmetrical and solemn urban pattern on the two wings of Beijing. Mr. Liang Sicheng defined this as the axis that commanded the overall situation in the plane of the ancient Chinese building complex, called the central axis. This is the longest existing city axis in the world, which brings together the essence of Beijing’s ancient architecture, contains the wonderful imprint of Chinese civilization, and also has many little-known mysterious stories, leaving unsolved historical suspense. Now let us travel through time and space to explore the past and the present, and start a journey of exploration on the central axis of Beijing.
