The Capital Museum is a provincial-level comprehensive museum in China located in the Confucian Temple on Guozijian Street, Dongcheng District, Beijing. In the city, there exists an ancient and mysterious urban axis that was formed in the Yuan Dynasty. Like a “spine”, it runs through the north and the south, forming a symmetrical and solemn urban pattern on the two wings of Beijing. Mr. Liang Sicheng defined this as the axis that commanded the overall situation in the plane of the ancient Chinese building complex, called the central axis.
