This session introduces both traditional and modern Chinese architecture. Architecture, like a mirror, reflects the country’s geographical diversity and nationality. Classic Chinese architecture usually seeks harmony with Fengshui, i.e. the local surrounding and ecology, and thus has many unique features in terms of layout, structure and decoration. Modern Chinese buildings, like the Bird’s Nest Stadium, the Suzhou Museum, the petal-like Hangzhou Olympic Sport Center are also presented in this session, and students will be exposed to mosaic diversity and wisdom of Chinese architecture.
