Have you ever heard the idiom “五脊六兽” (Wuji Liushou)? It’s used to describe a person who does absolutely nothing, just like a small animal sitting on the roof. This idiom originated from the animal statues sitting on the roofs of traditional Chinese buildings. What kind of mythical animals are they? What do they do? These magical beasts are not only on the roofs, you can see all kinds of creatures and beasts in the Forbidden City. Through the study of Lecture 5, students can understand the interesting stories of magical creatures and beasts in the Forbidden City.
